All cottages have private gardens and direct access to our unique 20-acre rewilded valley made up of woodland, ponds and meadows, with a nature walk on site.

More About Dittiscombe Cottages

As well as individual descriptions for each cottage, here is more general information below. You can also check our Guide for Guests page to help you before and during your stay.

  • Our prices can be found on the Booking page and are fully inclusive of heating, electricity and linen.
  • Towels are automatically provided in Honeysuckle and The Owlery. If you would like towels supplied in Rafters or Dovecote please get in touch with Ruth on [email protected].
  • Each cottage has a TV with streaming, DVD players, and free Wifi.
  • Heating is either oil or gas-fired central heating, or night-storage heating with supplementary heating, and some cottages have woodburners.  Please see individual cottage descriptions
  • Each cottage kitchen has an electric cooker and ceramic hob, cordless kettle, toaster, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment.
  • BBQs available on request.
  • All cottages are fully no smoking. Smoking is permitted outdoors.
  • Cots, highchairs, mattress protectors and non-slip rubber bath mats are available free on request. Guests are advised to bring other safety equipment such as harnesses and stair-gates.
  • Bathrooms Please see individual cottage descriptions for more details.
  • Bedding is non-feather duvets and pillows with polycotton protectors, and the bed linen is a polycotton mix. Beds are made up for guests’ arrival.
  • Each cottage has a fire extinguisher, fire blanket and smoke detector.  We also supply a small torch although we would recommend guests bring their own torch if they wish to walk at night-time.
  • The communal laundry room is available to guests with a free washing machine and tumble dryer. Irons, ironing boards and clothes-airers are provided in each cottage.

  • A complimentary basket of logs is provided in cottages with log-burners: Honeysuckle, The Owlery and Dovecote. If guests would like to use the log-burners regularly we suggest you pick up logs and kindling from our local garages at Halwell, Harbetonford, or East Charleton. Further supplies of logs can be bought from us at £3 per basket and these funds will go towards local tree planting to replace trees lost through the Ash dieback disease.
  • Parking. Guests are welcome to unload their car outside the cottage and then to park in the commumal car park. The Owlery has its own private parking space. If you are bringing more than one car please would you let us know in advance of your arrival.
  • For guests with limited mobility we would advise you to ring us if you have any specific requirements so that you can fully enjoy your holiday – call Ruth or Jon on 01548 521272. Honeysuckle cottage is our only single storey cottage.
  • There are some toys, games and books provided, but don’t forget there’s plenty of space to run and play in the woodland and around the valley, with a flat area for ball games too!
  • Food deliveries We try to support local shopping and eating and are fortunate to have a number of really good farm shops in this area for most of your holiday food supplies:
    Stokeley Farm Shop, approx. 3 miles
    Aune Valley Farm Shop, approx. 7 miles
    Springfield Farm Shop, approx. 5 miles
    Daynes Farm Shop, approx. 7 miles
    However, if you need a food delivery for your arrival then Tescos, Waitrose and Sainsburys all make deliveries to this area. Please book a time that you will be at your cottage (and after 9am and before 9pm so that this does not disturb other guests) and please let us know what arrangements you make so we can direct the driver to you.
