The cottages are in a peaceful and secluded valley, perfect for unwinding and listening to the birds. Everything is of a high standard of comfort and the owner is always available to help, but unobtrusive. We will definitely be coming back. Dogs more than welcome as were the complementary dog biscuits!
The cottage was beautiful, spotlessly clean, equipped with everything you could possibly need, and comfy beds. We enjoyed walks around your stunning valley. Fabulous place.
Dovecote cottage is pretty and welcoming. It is dog-friendly and suitable for couples or for up to 3 guests.
The cosy sitting room with wood laminate flooring and a beamed ceiling has a log-burner plus a convector and storage heater, and is furnished with a 2-seater sofa, armchair and coffee tables, Wifi and TV with streaming. There is a back door leading to a lower gravel garden and via steps to a higher area of garden with lawn and hedging.
There is a separate kitchen/dining room with a slate floor, oak dining table and chairs, small settle and storage heater; the fully-equipped kitchen area has a ceramic hob with cooker-hood, microwave, and electric oven.
The bathroom is on the ground floor and has a bath with electric shower over, heated towel rail and electric fan heater, toilet and basin.
Upstairs the main bedroom has a king-size bed, walk-in wardrobe, and storage heater.
The second bedroom has a single bed, a chest of drawers, chair and convector heater.
The small gravel sitting area with a table and chairs enjoys morning sun and the higher garden access by steps is part-fenced with a picnic table, and has mature hedging and lovely valley views. The cottage garden gate gives access to the fields and orchard above Dovecote and to Buddleia’s garden. The garden is not completely enclosed.

- Our prices can be found on the Booking page and are fully inclusive of heating, electricity and linen.
- Towels are automatically available in Honeysuckle and The Owerly. If you would like towels supplied please contact Ruth on [email protected].
- Each cottage has sofas and chairs, coffee tables, TVs with streaming free Wifi. Further information on local information, eating out, and suggest itineraries can be found within our website.
- Heating is either oil or gas-fired central heating, or night-storage heating with supplementary heating, and some cottages have woodburners. Please see individual cottage descriptions.
- Each cottage kitchen has an electric cooker and ceramic hob, cordless kettle, toaster, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment.
- We can supply a bbq on request.
- All cottages are fully no smoking.
- Cots, highchairs, mattress protectors and non-slip rubber bath mats are available free on request. Guests are advised to bring other safety equipment such as harnesses and stair-gates.
- Please see individual descriptions for each cottage bathroom. Some have baths with shower over, some with shower cubicles only, some with walk-in showers. All bathrooms have heating, toilet, washbasin, shaver points, heated towel rail or central heating radiator/towel rail.
- Bedding is non-feather duvets and pillows with polycotton protectors, and the bed linen is a polycotton mix. Beds are made up for guests’ arrival.

- Each cottage has a fire extinguisher, fire blanket and smoke detector. We also supply a small torch and matches although we would recommend guests bring their own torch if they wish to walk at night-time.
- The communal laundry room is available to guests with a free washing machine and tumble dryer. Irons, ironing boards and clothes-airers are provided in each cottage.

- A complimentary basket of logs is supplied on arrival. If guests would like to use the log-burners regularly we suggest you pick up logs, kindling, firelighters and matches from our local garages at Halwell, Harbetonford, or East Charleton.
- Parking. Guests are welcome to unload their car outside the cottage and then to park in the commumal car park. The Owlery has its own private parking space. If you are bringing more than one car please would you let us know in advance of your arrival.
- For guests with limited mobility we would advise you to ring us if you have any specific requirements so that you can fully enjoy your holiday – call Ruth or Jon on 01548 521272. Honeysuckle cottage is our only single storey cottage.
- Please bring your own toys and games for children. There’s plenty of space to run and play in the woodland and around the valley, with a flat area for ball games and a small person’s play house under the trees.
- On selected dates in the school Summer holidays there are free Sunday Nature Walks with local ecologist Ken Neal. Please enquire about these when booking.
- Food deliveries can be made to your cottage door. Please book a delivery time for when you are here but after 8am to avoid disturbing other guests. Sainsburys, Tescos and Waitrose all deliver to Dittiscombe. When ordering please give both your name and cottage name for the delivery.
- There are several excellent farm shops in the area which we would highly recommend. These are listed on the Guide for Guests.
