Relax in the tranquility of our rural valley estate in beautiful South Devon

Within the spacious 20 acre retreat of Dittiscombe Estate, our six individual holiday cottages are surrounded by a glorious South Hams valley. Just 10 minutes by car, guests will find beautiful beaches and countryside, and a little further afield the estuary towns of Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and Salcombe.

Much of the South Hams is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, renowned for its gentle rolling hills, rural coastline, beaches and rivers, with plenty of walking routes and watersports to enjoy.

The Holiday Cottages are surrounded by 20 acres of woodland, meadows, ponds and nature trail, and you can enjoy it all straight from your cottage door. Your self-catering cottage is comfortably furnished and has a private garden where you can soak up the views and peace of Dittiscombe Estate.

All the cottages have Wifi and TVs with streaming, some have log-burners and spa baths, and all are individually laid out and designed around the original farm buildings. Read more on the individual cottage pages.

Dittiscombe’s location is ideal for exploring the South Hams and the AONB, a truly unspoilt part of South Devon. Historic Slapton village is just a 10 minute drive away, and there you’ll find two very good pubs currently serving local food and drink. There is also a freshwater lagoon at Slapton Ley where you can take a gentle walk around the edge, discovering the local wildlife. The beautiful beach of Start Bay, which is 3 miles long, is nearby too.

This was a return trip after more than 20 years since we first stayed with our young children and I can only say that it is even better than remembered. Ruth and Jon have made it a perfect getaway for anyone looking for a relaxing break and they are so hospitable. Dittiscombe is such a perfect setting, we had a beautiful and restorative weekend.

We have just returned after visiting here 10 years ago. It was lovely to go back and enjoy the cottage and the walks around the picturesque grounds with our dogs.
It’s such a welcoming, peaceful and relaxing place to stay.

Williams FamilyApril 2022

The cottage is a perfect, restful haven in a beautiful and peaceful location. It is well equipped and attractively furnished with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. I really enjoyed the wood burner in particular. The hosts were friendly, welcoming & helpful. I would return in a heartbeat. Although it’s out in the sticks, it is a very short distance from the beautiful coast.
